    Web or Net?

The Internet. The World Wide Web. Digital Streaming.

Our modern world is a flood of information, into every household with a power source, into every hand with a mobile phone, and most of that flood is divisive, fear-filled, degrading, addictive filth that appeals to the very basest of human inclinations and appetites.

Web: a network of fine threads constructed by a spider from fluid secreted by its spinnerets, used to catch its prey.

We can sit back and bemoan this fact OR turn that stream into opportunity.

A web indicates ensnaring, a capturing of a victim much like a spider catching insects born on the breeze; spinning an almost unseen but strong, sticky death-trap. The more the victim struggles, the stronger the grip.

Yes, the World Wide Web is pervasive, beguiling, confusing, and, often, downright evil. But what if we turned this scenario on its head? Arm-in-arm, we, the Body of Christ with connections to virtually every race, religion, business enterprise, intellectual philosophy, and socio-economic strata, have an opportunity to build a NET—fishing the desperate out of the flow of fear-mongering, debilitating, addictive bottom-feeders intent, through greed, to suck the soul from this generation.Image from http://www.greenpeace.org

Net: an open-meshed fabric twisted, knotted, or woven together at regular intervals.

Here’s the thing, though. As long as we’re caught in our own little traps of us-versus-them or even my-ministry/business-versus-your ministry/business, we’re just one more voice of greed in all the noise.

Let’s change our thinking, Body of Christ. As Gungor sings on their new album One Wild Life: Soul with the timely tune, Us For Them, “We are better together.” (BTW, the whole album is amazing—a spiritual, musical, gut-wrenchingly honest feast www.gungormusic.com)

    The plan?

Seek God’s Face. Daily get alone with Your Heavenly Daddy. Bring a humble heart before Him. Place Him as the primary goal and focus of all you do every day so you are more and more conformed to and transformed by His boundless, fathomless, unwavering, relentless love. Only through vital connection with Him will we have His love flowing through us, the cords to catch those caught up in the world’s cesspool.

Scour the Internet for TRUTH, voices proclaiming beauty and freedom and self-sacrifice and LOVE and SALVATION and TRANSFORMATION through Christ’s indwelling Holy Spirit.

Share these messages, videos, stories, songs, inspirational memes, etc. with those entwined in your life, those God has placed all around you.

Speak Out! You too have a voice, unique and fashioned like a key to fit the aching void of those who are desperate and lost all around you.

Together, Body of Christ, arm-in-arm, we can build an INTER-NET of love, forgiveness, faith, truth, hope and joy, to stretch across the www flood of destruction.

    Stand together.

Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you… 2 Thes. 3:1

What Prayer Is Not. What Prayer Is.

"Peace in the Midst of the Storm" by Jack Dawson jackdawson.com (look for hidden images) Based on 1 John 4:4

    What Prayer is Not:

    1. Me convincing God to see things my way.
    2. Me pushing hard enough until God finally gives me what I want.
    3. The last resort.
    4. Passive Inactivity.

    Prayer is:

    1. Spending time learning God’s character.
    2. God turning up the heat so poison rises to the surface.
    3. Laying life’s strife at His feet so none of it is on His throne.
    4. Driving me out of my mind and into His.
    5. Willing surrender.
    6. Work.
    7. Warfare.
    8. The moments of the day that set life’s course.
    9. Speaking God’s Kingdom, God’s will & God’s life as God directs.
    10. Being still & knowing He is God.
    11. Mind-boggling.
    12. Transforming.
    13. Unfathomable.
    14. The Greatest Adventure.
    15. Never Wasted Time.
    16. The only place to go in this world where you can drink of something so refreshing & fulfilling.
    17. Gazing at Jesus until I reflect Him.

    The Great Exchange

    30/30 Prayer Challenge: Day 3

I stumble out of bed. Fatigue and nagging pain scream this is silly, that my time, especially in such a helpless state, would be better spent asleep. Yes I’m weak. Yes, I’m needy. Yes, I’m aware there’s no good in me to face the day. My need is raw and vital. There is nowhere else to go. No one else has the words of life. No one else Is life.

Already I’m grateful. Grateful for the pain? Yes, because it leaves no doubt where strength lies. It leaves no doubt that without Christ, I am an empty shell. With Him filling this broken, leaky vessel, life has meaning, I have hope even in the pain. I am useful because I yield myself to His loving hands. Not my will but thine be done. Not my kingdom, all for Yours. Please take my nothingness. Thank You for giving me Your faultless, loving, powerful life in place of mine. I give everything—all of me, all I have, every breath, every desire, every failing, every love—this thimble-full of substance—and find that the Almighty God gives me, in return, all of Himself. Life for death. Hope for despair. Strength for weakness. Selfless love for self-centeredness. Peace for strife.

I’d call that a great exchange.

    Holy Is His Name

    From: Images for Holiness: http://alturl.com/kx8e8Holy.

That description can only apply to One.

God is Holy. There is not even a shadow of a hint of sin or fear or despair or sickness or bitterness or unforgiveness in Him.

    Not. One. Drop.

Therefore, the more we immerse ourselves in Him, the more we call on His name and grapple with the fact He is Good, He is Love, He is the author of all life and all that makes life worth living; the more we allow the wrong conceptions about Him to melt away in His scalding love, the more His character and personality and Holiness overtake us. Immersed in His transformational presence, all fear, wrong desires, bondage, hatred and every other horrible thing that infects our minds, bodies and world—cannot stand. Like the walls of Jericho, as we show up day by day and march around the strongholds Satan has erected in our path, there comes a day those walls have to crash.

But our job is not to determine how many days. Our job is to stand faithful in the knowledge He is Good, He is Holy, His love never fails—and He has never been, never is, and never will be anything but Holy.

No other entity or god or thing we could worship could ever be described with that word--Holy.

Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty. The whole earth is filled with His glory.

Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty, Who was, and is, and is to come.

    The 30/30 Prayer Challenge

Prayer can be an intimidating thing. It's also just difficult to wrap our heads around the fact the God of all the universe loves to spend time with us. There are so many hang-ups that can block our way.

Here's a novel thought borrowed from Nike: Just Do It!

    1. Commit to a regular time with your Heavenly Father.

    2. Show up.

    3. Repeat Every Day.

One method of Prayer to get started

    Here's the challenge:

    1. Commit to spending at least 30 minutes a day for the next 30 days in prayer.

    2. Report to the Facebook Page: 30/30 Prayer every day to encourage, give prayer requests, ask for encouragement, etc. Whatever helps you in the journey, that's what we're here for.

    3. Invite friends you think would want to join the 30/30 Challenge.

Prayer Challenge begins November 7 and ends December 7.

Together, we'll see what God will do.

Joining 30/30 Prayer isn't mandatory, of course. Prayer is an anytime/anywhere thing. 30/30 Prayer is to help us all make Prayer part of our daily routine and see what God can do when we aim at the center of His heart together.

Besides, Prayer is Never wasted time.
